Duet from DS9 is still one of my favourite episodes of anything, ever. Could easily be in a lot of other shows/settings too
Some good stuff here, and good taste too. I always check out Zegema Beach and Osaré Editions releases myself. I'm old af so I still browse last.fm tags and related artists too
Had this exact thought when my cousin (umprompted by me) said he wanted to try a linux-only system on his new PC, my old desktop which I'm selling him. 5800X3D/7900XTX so hardly outdated!
Even if you don't have the .torrent file (I use magnet links), most torrent clients should be able to generate them. I also used qbittorrent to move the files from my old HDD to the new one when I upgraded, if you do this before you add the torrents to Transmission OP it should work
I switched from Pop! to EndeavourOS around the start of the year and love it, seems like the perfect avenue into Arch. Still have a fondness for Pop which was my first Linux distro and I had no real issues, just wanted a change
Underrated duo, I listened to Rhino XXL a ton when I discovered them
Look up a Pop punk classics playlist or something like that
Dev device for Asahi Linux, don't think M3 support is quite there but if you had the time could help contribute
Fair point, doesn't really save that much really. I'm all for coming down on the wealthy instead
I'm prepared for the downvotes here but... why not raise the cap to three-child? Probably a silly question, maybe it would make pretty much as much difference as scrapping the cap entirely?
I know it's ownership status is murky at present, but I still mark BandCamp Fridays in my calendar. Being sure to download anything I buy straight onto the NAS
Even as a football fan, I'm lucky to have a backup more rugger-based pub near me to fall back on if need be
I never have cause/need to tag other users, replying usually is enough for me
I think you're right on not being able to find a dual slot 7800XT, the original OEM versions (which tend to be the cheapest but also the least flashy/most compact bar specific SFF variants) are long sold out now. It can certainly be a struggle to find smaller GPUs these days, with many third party beefed up cooling solutions requiring at least 3 slots. This is where the CPU cooler is often the point of compromise, but it's not impossible to find more narrow GPUs.
Another option could be the 9070 / 9070XT which is a step up from the 7800XT, I chose the Powercolor Reaper model myself due to only being 2 slots wide so I would have room to play with in my T1 case. I believe the GPU market is still pretty dire assuming you're in the US, so it could be quite the task to even hunt one down for a reasonable price/close to MSRP unfortunately. There are plenty of 9800X3D/Terra builds on the SFF sub, so it might be worth reading through a few of the threads to get an idea of build considerations, temps, etc from those users, here's an example: https://www.reddit.com/r/sffpc/comments/1j68leo/yet_another_fractal_terra_9800x3d_9070_xt/
Still got my Powercolor HD4870 somewhere, from the first PC I built/bought for myself
Bizarre, I wouldn't expect issues with Linux on that hardware config. Perhaps try something with newer packages, I have a pretty similar setup like yours except for the CPU (7800X3D) with no issues on EndeavourOS. Fwiw, I have the Powercolor Reaper 9070XT which runs hot and loud out of the box but is pretty good now with a slight undervolt and tweaked fan curve
Looks like a solid build there. The Terra, like a few sandwich cases, has an adjustable spine in the centre allowing a variety of GPU widths/slots on one side and CPU cooler height on the other. See the attached snipped of the manual.
Therefore, you have up to some combination of space for each component. With your L12s77, you'll need to fit the fan under the heatsink as the Terra has a max CPU height of 77mm, leaving you either 43mm (just over 2 slots) for a GPU under 131mm or 33mm (just over 1.5 slots) wide for your GPU, with a max length regardless of 322mm. Checking different SKUs for the 7800XT as an example (TechPowerup is a good place, see here: https://www.techpowerup.com/gpu-specs/radeon-rx-7800-xt.c3839), if you look at different SKUs you will be able to see they come in all different dimensions, so some might fit into the Terra and others might not.
It might be wise to choose a shorter CPU cooler (like the AXP90-x53FC) to allow for wider GPUs, especially as it'll be right up against the side of the case which you've said you want to avoid.
Excellent article, agree with pretty much all of it. The cuts to public services instead of heavier taxes on those earning more (including myself), corporations, capital gains, landlords, etc has definitely added to a loss of social cohesion, as these contribute by far the most of refresh, renewal and refurbishment of public spaces and resources, let alone the establishment of new ones. My town has seen the closure of public pools, libraries, walk in centres over the past decade or so, leaving everyone high and dry except for... those who don't need to rely on them.
Seeing the political class shamelessly exploit their fortunate position, companies take advantage of "increases in costs driven by supply chain inflation, the "panic" over trans women and it's no bloody surprise no one wants to talk to anyone else. One of my main escapes is clubbing, not just for the music, the dancing, but the connection that can happen with a complete stranger who "gets" the music and feeling like you do (be it on various substances or stone cold sober, I can't cane it like I used to...)
