  • Nothing of the sort in Brazil. Stuff only gets replaced when broken or completely outdated. And any stuff that might work gets poached by insiders before seeing the light of day. You might get some stuff if you work in IT, out of question for anybody else.

Here people sell 2nd gen I5 + rx 580 pcs as "gamer pc" at 70% the price of a modern system. It's absolutely bonkers.

  • Hi fellow Brazilian!

Yeah, second-hand here sucks. You can get x-99 mb + cpu combos on alliexpress for 400 reais though, old xeons are good for server/jellyfin, just not very efficient. For Jellyfin, my biggest money sink is in HDDs. 4tb drives are 700 reais each, and there's no second-hand refurbished stuff in the market, so you have to buy brand-new. For a GPU I have an ancient 750ti, but I'm looking to buy an intel A310 card if they drop lower than 800 reais. At the very least you're looking at 3000 reais in pc parts for a server though. Mb + cpu + ram is somewhat cheap if you buy from china through alliexpress, but GPUs are a no go there. Keep in mind that when buying from China you have to avoid products above 60 dollars (around 350 reais) because of the super high taxes. If you want to buy domestically, I'd recommend a b450 AM4 board + a 3200g or something around that. You can avoid buying a dedicated GPU with a 3200g or similar, and get a nice modern platform, but the cpu will be quite weak for game servers, with inadequate support for pcie lanes, memory channels and sata ports though.

Also, for a game server, it's very likely that you'll have to work around being behind CGNat. I currently only self host Jellyfin inside my own house because of that, it's just a huge pain in the ass to deal with it. There are solutions though, I just haven't bothered. I'm still in the process of buying hard drives, so right now it's not a huge priority.

Edit 1: wording Edit 2: forgot to talk about psus... Just don't buy anything chinese. The MSI Mag 650w is the king of cost x benefit here in Brazil, nothing comes close, it's usually around 300 and rock solid.

  • Just checked, reviews are around an average of 7 for both users and reviewers. Which is not a flying score, but also not that bad. And I'm certain that a lot of the less than positive reviews come from a fan base who used to think the OG dark souls was perfect and just didn't want to try anything slightly different at the time.

On top of that, you're straight up mistaken. I was pretty sure finishing moves/executions didn't auto trigger, but still decided to go on and check. They don't. You HAVE to press a button to trigger them. You can just light attack to finish an enemy if you are not ready to be animation locked. And I don't see that as a flaw. Honestly, it baffles me that DS gives you i-frames on crits, and some other random actions, like opening a door.

  • Crazy! I love The Surge 1 and 2, honestly, way more than DS3, Pinocchio or Lords of the Fallen. I can't remember ever getting lost in those games, the maps looked fairly unique to me. If I were to hop in today, I'd still manage to navigate most of the games from memory alone. Maybe not the end game areas, but the early game areas are still easy to recall vividly in my mind (and I played both games around release). The limb cutting system works really well too: you use it to farm gear sets, you can use it to deactivate parts of your enemy, you can use it to trigger weaknesses in elites and bosses. Yes, you don't get i-frames. You have to be smart about using it (git gud??). Don't try to perform a finishing move animation when there's five other exos about to hit your ass. But, I also don't remember parts of the game where that many enemies were around, it was usually only three at most. Finishing enemies had the perk of giving extra tech scrap, so it was supposed to be used only when finishing a fight. Plenty of cool exoskeletons in the game as well, sole cool weapons. And the game doesn't really overstays its welcome. It's around 20h, maybe? I remember doing 30h for the second one while doing pretty much everything. The story is also fairly cool in both games, with interesting final bosses.

  • For Honor has, to this day, the best melee combat I have ever experienced in any game. The biggest problem that game has is that it's a fighting game in medieval disguise, if it was more adventure/rpg, I'd bet people would be all over it. I do like the fighting game part of it though, but fighting games are ROUGH to get into, sweatiest player base around.

  • What? DS2 was way more finished and polished than DS1 on release. There's not a single area in DS2 that is even half as bad as Lost Izalith, and even the Kiln of the First Flame is clearly an incomplete work. And let me not even start talking about Anor Londor giant empty spaces with zero substance and stupid ass areas that make no sense. DS2 was a finished game on release, they even changed stuff up for the NG+. You don't do that unless your vision is pretty much done.

  • He is only testing AAA games at top settings. And that's the point AMD is "making". Most pc gamers are out there playing Esport titles at the lowest possible settings in 1080p to get the max fps possible. They're not wrong, but you could still say that it's ridiculous to buy a brand-new modern card only expecting to run esport titles. Most people I know that buy modern GPUs will decide to play new hot games.
