I love radio.
"All the crap that fits, we print."
This has been my experience, yes.
Ah, the NIMBY problem. You like the stuff brought by highways, and the money that comes with it. But if they have to do something realistic, you dislike it.
I have had that experience. I found it to be worse in every respect. Less access to goods and services made it generally unpleasant. The lack of quick access to businesses meant that anywhere outside a brisk walk was somewhere I didn't spend money. And anywhere else that the walk was unpleasant, I either didn't spend money or spent as little as humanly possible.
Simply put, anti-car infrastructure means that I actively avoid businesses that try to prey on pedestrians' lack of options. And that's how I'll always see it.
I don't entirely agree. I live in NJ, a place absolutely built for cars. Without that infrastructure for cars (and trucks, and buses, and...), we wouldn't have access to the things we do. Anything that doesn't account for last-mile transit and shipping (or relies on bikes or walking) is a bad idea. Single mode, Origin-to-Destination transport for people and goods should be the goal.
That's what I thought too!
Luanti designers too.
No. Good grief, no. I hope that Firefox dies from a lack of Google money before they release this garbage.
Intent matters from the individuals who built the model and trained it. Not from those being jammed. Vibe coders are just tools the artist and punk use to advance the work and the impact.
RNG only for the sake of RNG can be said to be Dada. The appearance or simulation of intent without practical purposes fits the aesthetic well. The moment it actually serves a practical purpose, it ceases to be. TempleOS' Oracle and the 'particle effect' in Super Mario World are not Dada, but just outputting dev/random could be.
Simulation has merged with the thing being simulated and the simulacra take the originals' places. Nonsense has become the only sense.
The alternative is to call out copywrong in every version and every facet of existence. This isn't theft, it's duplication. The argument is simple: LLMs are the new printing press.
Yep. I really hope that the conversation around LLMs moves away from words like "theft". Show me evidence of an artwork that an LLM has concealed artwork from the public. I've looked, and all that I've found is that they make more media more accessible. That's not theft. That's piracy. That's culture-jamming.
So if you want to call it appropriation, fine. It's classic EEE methods, applied to Gonzo, Dada & Punk ideas. Embrace - taking in everything and culture-jamming with meaningless text & images (painfully Dada). Extend - by turning this into both a toy and a corpo "tool", they extended Dada into programming, articles, news media, you name it. Extinguish - when everything is a punk remix, or everything is meaningless Dada, nothing is. Therefore the true punks will be the classicist, reconstructionists, the Bible-beaters, and their ilk. And then Punk is dead.
I'm glad to hear that. Let's hope the rest of the day is successful.
Thank you. Yeah, when I think about it, I'm basically okay. Could be better, but I'm going to keep going and not let perfect be the event of good.
How're you?
Can't be chilling. The fire would be too warm.
In my terminal and 99% of what I write? IBM Courier 12. I grew up with a Selectric, moved to use WordPerfect (with the white text on blue background), and still just stick with it. I will tolerate Courier New 12. I get very ticked at Liberation Mono because it's almost okay.
Everything not monospace is some variety of Helvetica.
Have you ever seen the movie Dead Poets Society?
Language was invented for one purpose - to woo women. And in that endeavor, laziness must never be tolerated.
