  • "Conservatism consists of exactly one proposition, to wit: There must be in-groups whom the law protects but does not bind, alongside out-groups whom the law binds but does not protect."

  • Tbf, Trump's health is shrouded in so much subterfuge that you could have gotten the right president but we just don't know it.

  • If you haven't already, consider rebalancing your retirement accounts to invest in international funds. You may not be able to get international bonds but you can divest in federal bonds and instead support local/state ones. If your 401k doesn't, consider talking to your HR department to see if you can get funds added.

  • Exactly. The tax on hashing the password can't be ignored and if you're doing this enough times it can kill a system. 24 characters is too low. I'd say 100 characters is enough for most use cases. 1024 if you're feeling 1337.

  • This only exists because capitalism demands it.

  • UPS has a service called My Choice where you can have the package redirected to a UPS store or you can sign for the package and have it left at your door. Though I think the latter is dependent on the service that the shipper chose.

For a fee you can have it delivered to a different address.

I've used it a handful of times.

  • I'm sick of talking about a "living wage". I want a thriving wage.

  • Under the current regime it will be used to suppress discussion of all things that don't align with the Ministry of Truth

  • This is why it's important to have a trust that your assets are put into.

My trust is set up so that it's not beholden to any liabilities. My trustees can legally ignore any unsecured debts and leave them unpaid if I die. (Secured debts have a separate process since they are attached to tangible objects.)

  • They actually want people to quit. The problem is the wrong people are quitting.

Not paying people a proper wage is such a short sight view but when all you care about is the next quarter, kind of makes sense.

  • Belly button lint was used as a cartridge if paper wasn't available.

    1. France was (and I'm using past tense here because relations are strained due to......gestures generally) one of USA's first allies. They provided political, navel, and monetary assistance during the revolutionary war. They were one of the first counties to acknowledge us as an independent country once the war was over.
    2. The statue was commissioned as a gift to the US, not to the president. It doesn't have any listening equipment and it sits as a tourist attraction, along with information about our long standing alliance.
    3. It wasn't a fucking bribe!!!!!
  • Eh, most people burn their coffee or get shitty coffee. Salt helps enhance the coffee profile and decrease the bitterness that comes out when coffee is over brewed.

The number of people who don't know how to properly make coffee drives me nuts.

  • I remember when AT&T had "unlimited" data when the original iPhone came out and severely underestimated how much data people used.

Today, every cell phone provider has an "unlimited" plan and in the fine print says "up to x GB, after which you will be throttled."

    That shit should be illegal.

  • It was "State's rights" to own slaves but then "Federal Government Oversight" to force abolition states to return escaped slaves.

    In other words:

"Conservatism consists of exactly one proposition, to wit: There must be in-groups whom the law protects but does not bind, alongside out-groups whom the law binds but does not protect."
