  • Since no one has posted the reason why this feature was blocked by apple in south Korea and I don't want to read this article, I had Claud summarize it,

According to the petition, Apple said Find My was disabled "because of internal policy," likely related to privacy concerns and South Korean law interpretations Applelnsider, though the exact reasons were never officially stated.

  • Yah I've been perma banned over what I don't even know, and Reddit won't even let me make another account, sadly there's more users and specific subreddits there with relevant posts that I want to engage with but I can't. I'm hoping this get worse and worse on reddit so that most of the current users jump ship to lemmy

  • This is something I've thought about but didn't think there would be many companies interested in me enough to file a visa for me. But maybe it's worth trying, which countries did you get companies that showed interest so far?, how far along did you get in the interview process?, are you actually considering accepting any offers and moving to another country right now?

  • I'm doing the same thing in the US after getting laid off, have no energy or motivation to apply for jobs or prep for interview. I'm kinda depressed about this situation but also kinda happy to have the freedom to actually rest and breath again, for a first world country the American work system is draconic, and tying Healthcare access to a job is just inhumane

  • To anyone who does this, I've found browser extensions for both Chrome and Firefox called reading ruler or something like that, that will basically create a highlighted horizontal column wherever your mouse cursor is at, making it much easier to read text without having to manually select it

  • As someone who's not been in an real relationship this is my fear as well, even if I find someone how will I keep them engaged enough for a lifetime. I rarely even text the women I get digits from, I'm just very comfortable being alone and now it's getting problematic

  • I bought a precision screwdriver set to replace the failing RAM on my thin lenovo laptop, which has super tiny screw on the ram slot, withing the first few turns of the screwdriver, I stripped that screw. Fucking thing would not budge, tried the rubber band trick, tried to even find somewhere I can borrow a dremel to cut a line on the head for a flat head, finally had to take it to the repair center at a Micro center and they somehow got it out. Never buying a thin laptop again, and will always check online for repair ability

  • I can put a degoogled OS on an android phone to keep Google at bay, cause I bought and own the device. The iOS pros you mentioned are just apps, not even specifically tied to the OS itself, and most of them only work well within the apple ecosystem and purposefully don't work at all or work poorly with non apple devices. Android has tons of apps that do the same thing, or even better and they work with every device and OS regardless of who made them. So far the only iOS specific things I liked are the dynamic island functionality, the custom focus modes with customizable home and lock screens, the activity usage locks and analytics, most of these I can replicate on Android as well when I move to it.

  • Yeah I'm ticking things of my list as well, just random stuff I always wanted to do but never had the time, in this regard getting back into a job actually feels kinda depressing, cause I know I'll be back in the grind and not have any peace of mind in my free time to pursue the things that actually bring me joy, the amount of time of our life we throw away working vs how much actual impact that work makes is idiotic, we should be working to enjoy our lives not sacrificing our life to work.

  • What's a pro of the iOS app based file system, it's never not been an artificially created frustrating and limiting experience for me. I had to print a bunch of documents that were scattered across a couple of folders on my gDrive recently and I thought I'll download them to my iPhone, move the necessary docs from the sub folders into a single folder that I'll zip and send to the printing service email, the amount of frustration I had to deal with just to do something simple like that made me want to chuck my phone into a wall. Also one time I had to send a single pdf from my android phone to my sister's iphone, in a place with no cell signal or wifi. and that to was a god awful experience, purposefully designed so by apple so people stick to only using airdrop and Icloud. I had to basically setup a file server + wifi Hotspot on my android phone to be able to transfer that one file and because it was an android I could actually do that in the first place. So many apps I used to use can't work on iphones cause apple just won't allow it.

  • Pretty sure you've never used an Android, iPhone file managemt is locked down and dumbed down garbage, made so to make people more dependent on paying for and using the app store apps, without understanding the underlying system at all, and the primary reason I'm moving back to Android. Can't let some shit tech company dictate how I use my own devices file system, or what apps I can and can't install on it.

Is anyone else feeling no interest in applying for jobs anymore

    CSCareerQuestions @programming.dev

Has anyone used 3rd party services to apply for jobs on your behalf

    Asklemmy @lemmy.ml

Why is my entire feed in this Lemmy server nothing but American politics and Reddit bashing
