People writing "seperate" instead of "separate"

I hate it. And this is the right place to rant about it, right? I don't mind people confusing your and you're, or then for than, but when I read "seperate" my eyes cringe. It's painful.

AAAAAAAGH

WHY.

  • I'm a writer and always did exceptionally well in English; I also sometimes can't remember how to spell separate. Imagine how difficult it is for someone who doesnt know English as their primary language. Or an average American.

    • To separate is to part, not to pert. Easy.

    • English is not my primary language either, I wonder if that has anything to do with it. BUT I STILL HATE IT

  • Don't hate me...

    People here say "sep-rate".

    • Thanks for pointing that out. I wrote "say" in the same sense one would say writing can convey what one says. But my problem is specifically with writing. So I've amended the post title.

  • Welcome to English where the spelling is made up and the rules don‘t matter.
